MAH Holdings LLP (Mighty Axe Hops™) and Eric Sannerud of Foley, MN are committed to protecting water quality in Minnesota and are certified in the MN Agricultural Water Quality Certification Program (MAWQCP).
Mighty Axe Hops™ is a 111-acre hops farm and processing facility that provides the hops for many popular Minnesota breweries including Lake Monster Brewing, Flat Earth Brewing, Forager Brewery, Steel Toe Brewing, The Freehouse, Lakes and Legends Brewing Company, Fair State Brewing Cooperative and more.
Mighty Axe Hops leadership and has partnered with the Benton SWCD and USDA to establish a field windbreak on the west side of the farm. They’re also working through the Conservation Reserve Program to create permanent vegetation along a private ditch to protect its water quality. The nutrient management program used on the farm follows University of Minnesota rate suggestions when applying plant nutrients. Integrated Pest Management practices are implemented to manage weeds, insects and plant diseases. Annual cover crops are planted late spring every year and maintained until spring cultivation and hilling the following year.
